School Status
Sunshine Online Academy is an online private school program operated through Sunshine State Academy K-12, a Florida registered private school accredited by the National Association for the Legal Support of Alternative Schools (NALSAS). Sunshine Online Academy provides structured online educational pathways supported by institutional oversight, academic recordkeeping, graduation monitoring, and approved Cognia accredited digital curriculum providers.
Program Availability & Changes
Program offerings, tuition, academic pathways, curriculum access, support services, admissions criteria, graduation requirements, policies, schedules, and operational procedures may be modified, updated, suspended, or discontinued at the school’s discretion without prior notice. Availability of specific courses, electives, curriculum platforms, instructional partners, or support services may vary based on enrollment level, staffing, vendor availability, licensing, or academic appropriateness.
Admissions & Enrollment
Enrollment is not guaranteed. Admission decisions are based on academic fit, program capacity, transcript review when applicable, age/grade appropriateness, and the academy’s determination of whether the selected educational model is appropriate for the student’s needs. Sunshine Online Academy reserves the right to deny admission, defer enrollment, require additional documentation, or recommend an alternate educational pathway.
Academic Placement & Transfer Credit
Academic placement, grade-level assignment, course selection, graduation pathway planning, transfer credit acceptance, transcript interpretation, and diploma eligibility are determined solely by the school. Transfer credits must be supported by acceptable documentation and may be accepted, adjusted, limited, or declined based on academic standards, documentation quality, curriculum comparability, and institutional policy.
Tuition, Fees & Payment Policies
Tuition, enrollment fees, graduation fees, transcript fees, technology fees, support fees, and other program costs are outlined in current enrollment materials and are subject to change. Unless otherwise stated in writing, fees are nonrefundable once administrative processing, enrollment setup, transcript review, or course access has begun. Failure to remain financially current may result in restricted access, administrative holds, delayed records processing, withdrawal, or dismissal.
Student Participation & Academic Expectations
Students are expected to actively participate in assigned coursework, maintain academic honesty, comply with school policies, communicate appropriately, and make satisfactory progress toward educational goals. Sunshine Online Academy reserves the right to intervene academically, place students on probation, adjust support requirements, or terminate enrollment when participation, performance, conduct, or educational fit becomes problematic.
Technology Requirements
Families are responsible for maintaining reliable internet access, compatible devices, updated software, and the technical capability necessary to access digital learning platforms. The school is not responsible for disruptions caused by personal hardware failures, internet outages, third-party platform interruptions, or user error.
Postsecondary & External Opportunities
While Sunshine Online Academy provides academic planning, transcript oversight, graduation support, and college/career readiness guidance, admission, scholarship eligibility, employment qualification, athletic participation, military enlistment, licensure approval, certification eligibility, and transfer acceptance remain solely at the discretion of outside institutions. The school makes no guarantee regarding external recognition or acceptance. Families are responsible for independently verifying eligibility requirements.
Limitation of Liability
Sunshine Online Academy is not responsible for decisions made by third-party educational institutions, scholarship programs, employers, athletic organizations, testing agencies, government agencies, or licensing entities. The school is also not liable for interruptions caused by third-party technology vendors, curriculum providers, internet disruptions, software outages, or circumstances beyond institutional control.
Policy Acknowledgment
Enrollment, continued participation, payment submission, or use of academy services constitutes acknowledgment and acceptance of current school policies, handbook provisions, tuition terms, and institutional procedures.
