Accommodations & Learning Support
Our online courses are designed with flexibility in mind and can be adapted to support a wide range of learner needs through both accommodations and instructional modifications. Because students learn in different ways and may require individualized supports to access curriculum successfully, course settings and instructional expectations can often be adjusted based on documented needs, learning profiles, or educational goals. This flexibility allows families to create a learning environment that better aligns with a student’s strengths while addressing areas of challenge.

Available accommodations may include accessibility and instructional supports such as text-to-speech functionality, closed captioning, screen reader compatibility, refreshable braille compatibility, guided notes, built-in study tools, calculator access where appropriate, flexible pacing, extended or untimed assessments, scheduled breaks, and the ability to complete coursework or assessments across multiple sessions when needed. Because content is presented through a combination of text, audio, video, and interactive learning activities, students have multiple ways to engage with instructional material depending on their learning preferences and support needs.

In addition to accommodations that improve access to instruction, courses can also be modified when educationally appropriate. Instructional modifications may include adjusting assignment expectations, hiding or removing selected coursework, replacing assignments with alternate activities, supplementing with outside instructional resources, adjusting grading or mastery expectations, permitting reassessment opportunities, or personalizing course pacing and progression. These options allow coursework to be better aligned with a student’s individual educational plan while maintaining a structured learning pathway.

This flexible learning model may be appropriate for students with IEP or 504 accommodation needs, dyslexia or other reading-based learning differences, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, autism spectrum support needs, anxiety-related school difficulties, temporary medical accommodations, or gifted learners who benefit from pacing flexibility or enrichment opportunities. Because each learner’s needs are unique, support options are considered individually to determine what accommodations or modifications may be appropriate within the online learning environment.

While online learning offers significant flexibility, student success also depends on having an educational environment that matches the learner’s level of independence, support needs, and ability to engage with virtual coursework. Families considering this option are encouraged to discuss their student’s learning needs so that an appropriate educational pathway and support structure can be identified.
